Joan Eardley: drawings – an illustrated talk by Matilda Mitchell

We are delighted to announce Heroica Theatre Company’s first event to launch the funding appeal for our exciting new production entitled Joan Eardley: A Private View.

Scottish art historian Matilda Mitchell FRAScot has generously donated her time and expertise to Heroica to in order to present – here in Hebden Bridge – Joan Eardley: drawings, an illustrated talk on the artist and her extraordinary life and works. Amongst Joan Eardley’s prolific work were literally hundreds of drawings – in pastel, chalk, pen and ink and pencil – chiefly of her beloved Catterline on the east coast of Scotland and of the children of the Townhead slum district of Glasgow. Matilda was commissioned after Eardley’s death to catalogue over 700 of these drawings and she is able to bring a poignant immediacy to our appreciation of these works.

Do join us! Joan Eardley: drawings – the Terrace Room, Hebden Bridge Town Hall, at 2.30pm on 31 October 2015.
